Inland Waterways
Sustainable container transport via own quay
Schavemaker connects multiple own terminals via inland waterway. Daily sailings between Beverwijk, Rotterdam, Moerdijk, Maastricht, Antwerp and the European hinterland form a reliable network that relieves pressure on the road system.
The foundation is our own 180-metre quay in Beverwijk on the North Sea Canal. Direct loading and unloading of steel, containers and goods without dependence on third-party terminals. By replacing truck movements with barge transport, we enable significant CO2 reduction — a cornerstone of sustainable logistics.
Our inland waterway connections are an essential part of our intermodal network. In combination with rail terminals and logistics facilities, we provide a fully integrated green supply chain with minimal ecological impact.
